MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Michigan City police responded to Washington Park after receiving a call reporting a man’s body just before 7:00 a.m. Friday morning.
According to a press release, the body belonged to a 24-year-old man whose identity is being withheld until the family can be notified.
“It was apparent the cause of death was a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” stated Chief Swistek in a press release.
The man’s death was ruled as an “ill-fated” suicide.
The beach at Washington Park was reopened to the public at 8:30 a.m. after officials cleared the scene.
