MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Officials from Michigan City High School announced on Wednesday that they have selected four students to represent the school as delegates in the 2018 Hoosier Boys and Girls State Programs.
The students will travel to Angola, Indiana in mid-June to join over 600 peers from across Indiana at Trine University.
The programs are held each year and are designed to educate young adults in the “duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities” of being a citizen.
Among the many events held during the week, they will also attend special sessions geared toward teaching them about leadership, law, media, and more.
The delegates chosen to represent Michigan City High are selected by the school faculty based on their leadership abilities, academic achievement, and character and are sponsored by the John Franklin Miller American Legion Post 37 and the American Legion Auxilary Unit 37.
This year’s delegates are Natalie Parker, Julia Miller, Tommy Komay, and Riley Shreve.
