MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Hundreds of visitors from other cities and even states as well as local residents came out and lined the sidewalks of Franklin Street Saturday afternoon for the 2018 Great Lakes Grand Prix Boat Parade where teams from across the country came to show their boats before racing in the Boat Race Sunday afternoon.
Aside from the Super Boats, the Michigan City High School marching band, Michigan City Soul Steppers, Michigan City Great Lakers Auto Club and many others participated in the parade as well.
The crowd cheered and waved as the racers and their teammates strolled down Franklin Street from 9th Street through 4th Street tossing beads, candy, t-shirts, and more trinkets.
Children in the crowd gaped in awe at the great sizes of the Super Boats as they stared up at them.
The Boat Parade is part of a three-day event in Michigan City where Super Boat International Productions hosts one of their many races for their Super Boat Race circuit.
This year, Michigan City hosted the Great Lakes Grand Prix for its 10th year in the circuit.
