Beef Jerky Outlet Opens its Doors in Michigan City
Jerky lovers in Michigan City will find it easier to find their favorite jerky flavors after Beef Jerky Outlet opened its doors in the Lighthouse Premium Outlet Mall on Monday.
The franchise store, located at 127 Lighthouse Place, offers a large variety of beef jerky in many different flavors as well as other more exotic jerkies like ostrich, buffalo, kangaroo, and more.
When you walk into the store, you are greeted by one of the owners or the general manager who then takes you on a short tour of the types available.
Throughout the store, customers can sample every flavor offered in each “flavor zone”. The zones which are named according to the type of jerky offer classic jerky favorites, Smokehouse BBQ, Wild Game, Sweet and Savory, and of course the Hot Zone.
Amy McDonnell, along with her husband Kevin McCoy, and father Vince McDonnell opened the store earlier this week on Monday. The store keeps the same hours as the mall opened from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Free samples of most of the flavors are available for customers to try before they buy.
Be sure to also check out the exotic game selection such as ostrich, venison, elk, buffalo, fish, alligator, kangaroo, wild boar, pheasant, duck, and antelope.
Other than jerky, the Beef Jerky Outlet offers a variety of jams, jellies, pickled products, smoky pumpkin seeds, flavored popcorn, and if you’re really feeling adventurous, you can also find scorpion, cricket, and worm suckers with real critters in the center.
“I have been working out here off and on for about six years and this is one of the coolest places I have seen,” said Justin Wallin, an employee at the Clarks clothing store located in the mall. “I have seen a lot of stores come and go, and this is a one-of-a-kind store that will bring business back to the mall.”
“The prices are great, especially compared to the standard beef jerky you buy at gas stations for twelve dollars. Here you get better quality at a better price,” added Wallin.
Customers can choose between a “snack pack”, share, or family size bag.
Snack pack bags are priced at $9.99 per bag but customers can save money by getting more jerky, according to Amy McDonnell. Customers can take advantage of the store’s specials where they can save $5 on four bags which can be mixed and matched, or get a sixth bag free along with a Beef Jerky Beach Bag when they buy five bags.
For the big jerky lovers, Beef Jerky Outlet also offers a loyalty program where customers can sign up using their email address and receive a free snack pack on every seventh purchase in the store and also a gift during their birth month if they include their birthday in the loyalty program signup process.
